5th Turkish-German Energy Forum
The 5th German-Turkish Energy Forum took place on 27th October 2023, drawing over 200 influential figures from politics, business, academia, and civil society. Under the theme "The Future of Energy: Challenges, Opportunities, and New Perspectives," the forum delved into the multifaceted issues within the energy sector.
During the forum, Dr. Robert Habeck, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Dr. Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, engaged in bilateral talks. Their discussions not only reinforced the significance of the Turkish-German Energy Partnership (TGEP) but also solidified their joint commitment to advancing collaboration across diverse topics, ranging from energy efficiency to the promising realm of green hydrogen.
Preceding the Energy Forum, the lively city of Ankara played host to TGEP Working Group meetings. The outcomes of these sessions and the progress of the Working Groups over the past year were shared with a wide audience at the Energy Forum, showcasing the tangible results of bilateral cooperation.
A key moment of the Energy Forum was the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding. Among them, agreements between industry leaders like Kalyon-Enercon, Enerjisa-Enercon, and Siemens-Daikin, opening new avenues for transformative partnerships and ground-breaking initiatives.
Another highlight was the panel discussion “Empowering Women in the Green Transition Process” where experts from civil society, finance and the private sector shared their personal experiences from working in the male-dominated energy sector as well as their recommendations to improve gender equality.
