2nd Turkish-German Energy Forum
The second Turkish-German Energy Forum was held on 26 October 2018 in Ankara. With the signing of a Letter of Intent by the energy ministers of both countries, it launched a closer collaboration on energy and the transformation of the energy system in Germany and Türkiye.
Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany officially opened the second Turkish-German Energy Forum in Ankara.
They highlighted the importance of affordable, safe, and clean energy for the development of both countries, and the opportunities the transition to a modern, clean energy system offers.
Following their speeches, the ministers signed a Letter of Intent, announcing closer collaboration on renewable energy, energy efficiency, infrastructure and sector coupling as well as regulatory issues. In addition, a yearly high ranking steering group meeting was announced, to move the topics of the Energy Partnership forward.
In the second part of the Energy Forum, Dr Alparslan Bayraktar, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, and Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany, discussed first results of the Working Groups of the Partnership.
